I know it seems nitpicky but as the rules guy if something seems a little off then its much easier to draft a couple rules to eliminate any confusion. I'm not interested in being in a pool where someone can buy a championship, and with that last trade opening up a can of worms, I think closing that option is needed. Not saying anyone would do it but one could look at that trade and say, I can trade a case of beer for X and Y and we would have serious issues I think nobody would want. As for the draft pick rule, we all have access to the draft board on the blog. If we're too dumb to check if we have a pick available to trade before posting it then we don't deserve to make that trade, shouldve been done along time ago.

First of all I will not be posting a challenge to the ETD/FLB trade. After war room discussions with several uninvolved GM's my thoughts on this trade are as follows: trade should go through at 7:29 as originally posted. Precedence has been set that past trades with incorrect draft picks being traded and later adjusted to make the trade work. Also there is no clearcut rule against trading a beer or anything else to make a deal work, this was just assumed and I think we all realize this was meant as a "sorry dude I F'd up let's make it right move"

I propose the following 2 new rules:
1. Only players and/or draft picks may be traded. No money or other things allowed in a deal.
2. Any trade involving a non-existent draft pick is null and void and must be reposted with corrections made before the 24 hour trade window begins.

I accept the terms of this cancellation. This is truly an amazing pool where strategy, politics and well-timed jabs come in to play. Had no one said anything, Rod may not have questioned the deal and it may have slipped through, but Clay f paid a compliment and Mike breazily questioned the move ... and I trembled all morning knowing that these two innocent and non-threatening comments would doom my trade. So fun. I enjoy playing this game.

I told my co-worker after I made the trade yesterday that my biggest hope was to survive the political waters of the next 24 hours. we talked a while about strategies and how in-depth our pool really is when you factor in relationships and bargaining and all the behind-the-scenes stuff.

when I saw the innocent officepools chatter my internal voice said "NOOOOO !!!!"

I lose this round, but it is a fun game we play, thanks for this awesome pool guys.

Given the Mr Mustard has been identified by the self proclaimed Clue master we have to look at his arguement: Most arguments are based on posession of artistic ability.

Anyone can see that this image was obviously some clip art photo from Google or Microsoft. In order to not be identified the logo master must have known that creating a pretty new logo would have given away the game quite quickly, thus he realized he must post something that anyone could have come up with: A clip art picture.

Just wanted to say a few words about this year's pool. Frankly, I have been quite disappointed by what has happened during this year's pool, and it has nothing to do with my underperforming team. So far this year, we have seen the following:

1) One GM's integrity was questioned
2) Posts that are not signed (which to me shows a lack of balls in my opinion)
3) Rules not being followed when it comes to voting on issues

And now, an anonymous post poking fun at one GM.

I hate to say it but the pool this year is starting to become a shell of its former self. Let's clean this shit up and make this pool great once again.

First of all read your monkey parable back to yourself, its more relevant to you than any of us. I too understand what you were trying to do, however, in your original post you stated that Gonchar would be taking the place of Leddy which of course doesn't work. Had you said that Pronger replaced Leddy THEN a waiver claim could be made dumping Pronger and puTting Gonchar in for Pronger with Eliott to the bench. This was never stated until after the trade already went through and a ruling was made. For all we know you aquired Pronger so you would have a player to drop so you could aquire Elliott as a free rookie, which is well within your rights as a GM. Expecting us to know you want to activate a player who is out for the season to make a waiver pick up work is just dumb. Be clear as to what you are doing on the BLOG and we have no issues.

Rod, as advice, please post your moves separately, and clarify what you want done prior to time elapsing on a trade (24hr) or waiver (48hr) ... I see what you were trying to do, and I get it. It's not lost on me what your intent was now after the fact, what WAS lost to me was any clear indication throughout the 24 and 48 hour processes as to what you were trying to do. Treat your moves as individual moves, and be clear about your plans in individual posts.

with your previous struggles to make moves, it should be clear to you by this point that yes, indeed we need a roadmap to your roster moves and intentions. Perhaps you should make sure you know your plan when making a post so that you can articulate it to us.

Pronger was traded for on Jan 3rd at 1:11 pm trade cleared Jan 4th at 1:11 pm at which point Rod now owns Pronger and is free to waiver him if he so chooses. Waiver will not clear till Jan 6th at 1:11 pm. IF Rod had stated in his original post that Pronger was to go into the ACTIVE lineup he would have been free to sub in Gonchar for Pronger in his waiver claim but as this was never posted and we are not mind readers at bagofpucks, Pronger , being injured and all is placed on the bench. Rod, you are stuck with either placing Elliot in your active line-up or placing him on the bench, you can`t put Gonchar in at this point.

Sorry JSZ but both Leddy and Gonchar are not a part of or involved in any way to your previous waiver claim so are invalid to be used as insertions on this transaction. Elliot could replace an active D-man or replace Pronger on the bench. Had you dropped an ACTIVE player on waivers then a bench player or incoming waiver claim could have been inserted but because you dropped a bench player you are limited to activating the incoming player (Elliot).
